U.S. Women in Nuclear 2025: A Year of Growth and Connection

In 2025, U.S. Women in Nuclear kept building momentum, bringing members together and supporting a growing nuclear industry through collaboration, leadership development, and workforce advocacy. Throughout the year, U.S. WIN advanced its strategic objectives to track a diverse workforce, foster inclusion and belonging, provide meaningful professional development, and advocate for nuclear technology.

A key milestone in 2025 was the five-year anniversary of Atomic Allies, the collaboration between U.S. WIN, Nuclear energy Institute (NEI), American Nuclear Society (ANS), and North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN). Through strong coordination and shared programming, the Atomic Allies continued to align efforts, and create meaningful opportunities for professional development, outreach, and advocacy, both nationally and at the local chapter level. Through this ongoing collaboration, the organizations expanded outreach, strengthened professional connections, and created more opportunities for members to engage across the nuclear community.

Professional development remained a strong focus throughout the year. U.S. WIN Professional Development Week delivered targeted sessions designed to strengthen leadership skills and provide industry insight, while the GROW Mentoring Program celebrated both new graduates and incoming participants through mentoring, speed networking, and community-building events. Together, these initiatives advanced U.S. WIN’s commitment to retaining talent, supporting career growth, and fostering a sense of belonging across all career stages.

U.S. WIN also celebrated Women’s History Month with events and programming that highlighted the contributions of women across the nuclear industry and reinforced the organization’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and visibility. These activities, celebrated under the theme “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations,” helped elevate diverse voices while inspiring advocacy and engagement within local communities.

Following the 2025 National Conference, U.S. WIN welcomed important leadership transitions. Juliann Edwards concluded her term as Chair after guiding strategic updates and helping expand the NEXT program.Rebecca (Becky) Salvadore stepped into the role of Chair, bringing a strong focus on growing the future workforce and supporting members at every stage of their careers. Reflecting on the moment, Becky shared,“We have an extraordinary opportunity to lead at a time when nuclear technology is essential to a sustainable future. With that opportunity comes the responsibility to teach, mentor, and advocate so our industry reflects the strength and diversity of the communities we serve.” U.S. WIN also welcomed updates within its Executive Advisory Council, recognizing the service of outgoing members and welcoming new leaders who will continue to support the organization’s mission and long-term direction.

U.S. WIN continued to increase workforce awareness in 2025 by promoting the launch of NEI’s NuclearWorks, a new platform designed to help students and job seekers explore careers, education pathways, and training opportunities across the nuclear industry. This initiative aligns closely with U.S. WIN’s strategic objective to inspire and prepare the next generation of nuclear professionals.

The 2025 U.S. WIN National Conference in New Orleans brought our community together in a big way, welcoming more than 800 attendees from across the country. Members took part in technical sessions, professional development workshops, mentoring programs, technical tours, and networking events, and celebrated the 2025 NEXT Cohort graduates as they launched their capstone project, Nuclear Connect.
