Why did you choose the nuclear field or how did you end up in the nuclear field?
I initially worked in manufacturing early in my career and saw first-hand the impacts of changing supply and demand on an industry. I figured everyone would always need electricity, so I pursued a career in the nuclear power field.

What do you think is the most important benefit of nuclear science, technology, or energy and why?
I think the most important benefit of nuclear energy is that it is the only large-scale “always on” carbon free source of electricity currently available. We generate a life essential product in a way that protects our environment for future generations.

Is there something about your job that most people are surprised to hear?
That even after 25 years in the nuclear industry, I still learn something new every day.

What advice do you have for women in the nuclear field?
My advice is to look for opportunities to say, “Yes!” I have had a lot of different jobs over the course of my career, and I never felt completely ready for any of them. I have learned that the best way to learn a new position is to accept the position.

Why did you join U.S. Women in Nuclear?
I joined U.S. WIN because it provides so many opportunities to advocate and educate this industry that I love. I did not realize when I joined U.S. WIN how much the Professional Development activities would educate me and shape my leadership style over my career.

What is your favorite work memory or accomplishment?
Obtaining my SRO license was a big accomplishment, but it was even more rewarding when I was an Initial License Class instructor later in my career, and all of the students successfully obtained their licenses.
