Detailed Description and Instructions:

U.S. WIN Chapters can use this prepared material to engage with Girl Scout troops and help them earn the “Get to Know Nuclear” patch.  This patch is sponsored by ANS, but it is a great outreach opportunity for U.S. WIN. Many U.S. WIN and ANS student and professional chapters partner on merit badge events each year. The target age range is middle school, but the activities can be adjusted as needed. It is possible to do some of the activities in-person or at home (with a family member), but the videos can also be standalone experiences. Overall, the activities could take an entire day, or broken up over several days depending on the needs and preferences of the Girl Scouts and chapters involved.

The posted zip file provides an overview of the activities (including required materials), several printouts, and a one-pager outlining the patch.  The YouTube link provides the videos associated with the activities that have been posted to the U.S. WIN YouTube account.  This event has also been advertised on Rallyhood for Girl Scouts of the Nation’s Capitol as part of DC WIN Outreach.
