Employment (Company and Position):

Entergy – Project Scheduler

Why did you choose the nuclear field or how did you end up in the nuclear field?

I ended up in the Nuclear field by being referred to a job in HR, which led to me being referred to another job in Nuclear! I was the HR coordinator for a Nuclear Administrative Assistant, SR role, and the hiring manager asked me to apply! I did and got the job. After 4 months in that role, I was promoted to an Executive Assistant position. After attending the conference in Phoenix, AZ, I had a desire to be more involved, so I got certified in P6, and became a Project Scheduler.

What do you think is the most important benefit of nuclear science, technology, or energy and why?

I think what excites me about nuclear technology is how safe it is! When people hear nuclear, they think of explosions! I LOVE to say nope, it’s deeper and safer than that. It’s so regulated that we have rules on rules on rules – and as someone who loves structure, I’m here for that!

Is there something about your job that most people are surprised to hear?

I think people would be surprised at how much problem solving and flexibility my job takes. Every day is different. One small change can affect a whole chain of tasks, so you’re constantly having to think ahead, adjusting, and finding ways to keep everything on track.

What advice do you have for women in the nuclear field?

I’d tell other women not to be afraid to take up space! Speak up, get involved, and trust that you belong there. This industry has so many opportunities for growth, and you never know what doors will open once you say yes to something new. Build your network within and outside of WIN. Leaning on other women in nuclear allows us to all support each other.

What is your favorite aspect of U.S. WIN?

My favorite aspect is the networking and the sense of belonging it brings. It’s such a great feeling to connect with other women who get what you do, share ideas, and cheer each other on. Whether it’s at a conference or just in day-to-day interactions, it really feels like a community that supports and lifts you up.
